Bachelor of Music - Secondary Specialization

The Bachelor of Music (BM) degree with Secondary Specialization is designed for students who wish to have a career in one of two tracks:

  • secondary choral—preparation for organizing and directing choral organizations at the secondary level, or
  • secondary instrumental—preparation for directing bands and orchestras at the secondary level.


This comprehensive degree includes a combination of coursework in secondary and elementary methods, conducting, applied lessons, university studies, music theory and history, ear training, technology, and professional education.

Our applied faculty are active performers drawn from professional Dallas/Ft. Worth ensembles. Highly-respected methods instructors provide a rigorous education and many opportunities for developing performance, conducting, and teaching skills.
